In the Community
FAIR Girls provides comprehensive training in all of our communities to ensure that high-risk and trafficked girls are better identified, assisted, and protected. Our trainings are conducted by skilled human trafficking counselors and survivors. Training participants will gain a better understanding of what human trafficking is, the basics of domestic minor sex trafficking and forced labor trafficking, how to better identify potential trafficking victims, the laws and referral mechanisms in their community, myths and misconceptions about sex trafficking, and much more. FAIR Girls is currently the co-chair for the D.C. Anti Human Trafficking Task Force’s training and victims services committee.
FAIR Girls provides specialized sessions including:
- Police training on how to recognize a child who has been trafficked
- Child welfare agency staff training on how to help high-risk and trafficked girls and boys in the social welfare system
- Foster care placement and foster parent training on how to better understand the risks foster care and orphaned youth face toward trafficking
- Educator training on how to protect their students from human trafficking, including warning signs and the link between trauma and learning
